My kids love playdough! I love that while they are happily playing, they are developing important fine motor skills. To add in even more learning benefits to our playdough time, I have created a bunch of learning mats. Each set focuses on different skills, so that we can hit different objectives while playing. Whether you are using these mats at home or as a classroom center, these hands-on centers are always a favorite! To get you started on your playdough mat collection- I want to share these fun pattern making mats with you for free!
Low-Prep
These playdough mats are super easy to prep. The pattern mats come 3 to a page. (Yay for paper saving!) So once you print your mats, simply cut them apart to make 3 individual mats per page. Then laminate them so that the playdough doesn’t stick. Then they can be used over and over again!
2 Different Options
There are two different types of mats included: finish the pattern and make your own pattern. The “finish the pattern” mats are designed for children to practice recognizing and completing the patterns. The “make a pattern” mats allow children to create their own pattern. Beginners will probably start with simple AB patterns, but these blank mats allow for more complex patterns if the child is ready for them. Students simply roll the balls of playdough and place them on the mats to create the patterns.
