Writing rocks do, do, do, do, do, do…writing rocks! Did you read that to the tune of “Baby Shark”?! Sorry… now it is stuck in my head, too. If you have been following me for a while, you may have noticed that I love giving children the opportunity to express themselves through writing. It is important that children get plenty of opportunities to practice all different types of writing. They need the chance to practice creative, persuasive, informative, and journal writing. This freebie is a fun little creative writing prompt. Let them use their creativity to respond to the prompt…”If I had a Pet Shark.”
Let Their Imagination Soar
I love reading creative writing. When children are allowed to use their imagination, their creativity shines through. Let your little writer’s creativity loose with this silly writing prompt. Where would their pet shark live? The bath tub?! The swimming pool?! Would it eat fish sticks for dinner?!
Giving them a huge variety of prompts helps give them a chance to write about things that truly interest them. Fun prompts can be useful to spark ideas when little ones are convinced that they “don’t know what to write about.” Also, remember to give them a chance to be creative without prompts. The sky is the limit when kids are given the chance to truly show their creative genius!
